About

Biomedical engineer turned full-stack business professional. I'm especially interested in the intersection of technology with healthcare, education, or food; if that sounds like something you're working with, reach out!

Experience

Operations

Over two 6-month rotations, I worked to optimize the LinkedIn Talent Solutions sales machine in North America and Asia-Pacific. On the North American team, I built models to distribute over $0.5B in sales quota across the US and Canada, and coordinated local teams through sales territory planning. While in Singapore, I created market-sizing tools, designed a new low-cost sales segment for the growing small business in the region, and operationally supported the Southeast and North Asia sales teams in planning and forecasts.
On a 3-month project through the Tauber Institute for Global Operations, my team and I identified $34 million in annual savings opportunities by redesigning the processing and supply chain of ConAgra's tomato business. I was doing everything from modeling massive manufacturing processes to experimenting with (delicious) recipes in the research labs to presenting our recommendations to executive leadership.

Engineering

Throughout my awesome education at University of Michigan I focused on bioelectric and biomechanical learnings, including coursework in tissue mechanics, analog circuits, control systems, and linear programming. I also involved myself in several projects like a "smart" boot to predict fracture risk in soldiers, a microfluidics platelet separation device, and research in assembly line ergonomics.
I joined CentriCycle to lead the prototyping division of 5 other engineers in development of a manually powered blood centrifuge for use in rural clinics of developing countries. We iterated through several cycles of design-build-test to take the centrifuge from an unwieldy contraption of bicycle parts to a svelte 3D printed device that could spin blood at 3000rpm. As the team lead, I prioritized our features, funneled workstreams to the appropriate technical domain experts, and got knee-deep in CAD, cogs, and blood samples.

Product

As an Associate Product Manager on the Lynda.com team, I'm focused on providing a better learning experience for our members. I've been leading initiatives around our login experience, cancellation flow, and premium feature sets to help improve retention of subscribers by providing a smoother and more delightful experience.
This website! I think any good product manager should have at least a basic understanding of how the product is made. I'm pretty handy with SQL, R, and MATLAB, but while working on web products I challenged myself to learn some front-end development and built this Bootstrap site. I'm now working on learning JavaScript and jQuery to bolster my technical chops. The site's still a work in progress, so I'd love any feedback!
